First graders are gearing up for Spring and our final unit in reading! From majestic, house-sized trees that have stood for millenia to fleeting, delicate flowers in brilliant hues, plants come in a fascinating array of shapes, sizes, and colors. Aside from their natural beauty, plants also provide animals with many of their basic needs. We often take for granted the amazing diversity of the plant life around us, but in the upcoming weeks, first graders will have the opportunity to participate in a focused investigation of the world of plants. Special thanks to the Cody-Kilgore FFA Greenhouse Committee for helping us kickstart our unit by helping us plant: Bachelor Buttons, Marigolds, Sunflowers, Strawberries, Romaine Lettuce, Peppers, Cucumbers, and Beans! We can't wait for them to come back and help us transplant to pots and the tower garden!
