Housekeeping items: There will be a waiting room for MS and HS students not practicing after school at the lunch tables. If a student is not involved in after school activities they need to be at the waiting tables. All 6th-12th graders will need to bring $25 dollars for their computer fee. They will not be allowed to take their chromebooks home until they have paid the $25 dollars. Concussion testing for the 7th grade and a handful of HS students will take place during 7th hour on the first day of school. There will not be free lunches for everyone this year. We will return to pricing as it was before the pandemic. Every family will be sent home an admissions packet with your free and reduced lunch applications. This year there are some get to know you forms for your students to fill out. We ask that you fill out all paperwork and have your students fill out the forms for them if they are able. (Mom and Dad may need to help a bit with the younger students.) PLEASE RETURN PAPERWORK BY AUGUST 22nd. On August 19th there will be school on Friday for the 6-12 grade only - All day. On August 26th there will be school on Friday for the 6-12th grade only - HALF DAY. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 pm. The MS/HS is looking for an assistant cook. If you or someone you know is interested please contact the HS office. Please make sure we have all physical forms brought to the office at the high school. If a student hasn’t turned in their form they may not play or practice until they do. Mrs. Tolliver is heading up the secret pal program again this year. Please email her at stolliver@cody-kilgore.com to sign up for a secret pal! This year we have practice after school for JH Volleyball and Football. This is different from previous years. In order to try to keep our late buses running efficiently we are implementing a different process for all students riding the late bus. Parents need to text (402-389-1515)or email (cford@cody-kilgore.com) Carrie to sign up their students for the next week by Friday @ 4:00 pm. If you don’t sign up your student by Friday before the next week, we cannot guarantee that there will be a place for them on the late bus. We are still looking for a full time bus driver for the Merriman morning route. If you know someone who is interested in driving it on school days please direct them our way. (We are covering it with subs right now). Finally - regarding the buses. In your packets being sent home you will find copies of the bus rules. Please go over these rules with your students. When we are returning your students home after school or practice and you plan to pick up your students, we will only wait for five minutes. At that time we will try to contact you. If you cannot be reached, the driver will let Mr. Orrock know, and if he cannot get ahold of anyone students may be returned to school and he may contact law enforcement. Again, good communication is the key.

Winter JH sports will practice during PE hour each day from 3-4pm

Don't forget to join us for a potluck picnic in the park on August 24th. This Welcome Back to School Picnic is put on by the Legion and Legion Auxiliary. They will provide tableware and drinks. Please bring a covered dish.

The coaches have made some adjustments to our practice times and pick up times. Football on Wednesday and Thursday of this week will still be from 6-8 pm, However, the activity bus will leave Merriman and Crookston at 5:15 pm Volleyball practice is this morning. Then they will meet from 6-8 pm on Thursday. the activity bus will leave Merriman and Crookston at 5:15 pm NO PRACTICE ON FRIDAY Practice on Monday the 15th will be from 4-6 pm. The activity bus will leave Crookston and Merriman at 3:15 pm. Tuesday is the first day of school and the late bus will run after practice as usual. Please encourage your children to let us know if they do or do not need a late bus. Communication is key in helping our students get to where they need to be. We do not want to send the late bus/activity bus if no one is needing a ride.

The annual Welcome Back to School Potluck at the Park will take place at the Cody Park on August 24 at 6:30 PM. The Legion and Auxiliary will provide tableware and drinks. Please bring a dish and your family!

Both 6 grade boys and girls will be allowed to compete in JH sports this year.

Hi everyone, The HS VB team is selling t-shirts. Please see the attached image for ordering. All orders are due by August 18th.

Reminder the last date for physicals is Friday August 5th from 2-4 central time.

Practices for HS football and volleyball will begin on Monday, August 8th. They will have concussion testing on Monday the 8th at 5:00 pm then Practice will run from 6-8 pm. The activity van will be in Crookston and Merriman at 4:00 pm on the 8th to pick up players. The activity van will plan to leave to return students at approx. 8:15 pm. Then on Tuesday the 9th - Friday the 12th and on Monday the 15th practice will take place from 6-8 pm . The activity van will pick up students in Merriman and Crookston at 4:30 pm. Return time will again be approx. 8:15 pm. Please send your child's physicals with them to practice. I also plan to pick up the physicals that are at the clinic this Friday. If anything changes we will let you know.

Practice will begin on August 8th for High School Sports. The activity vans will run to Crookston & Merriman (with stops on the way). We need for students or parents to contact Carrie Ford at 402-389-1515 and let her know if your student will need a ride. We need to have a head count ahead of time so we can make sure we send the correct vehicle with enough seats. There will be a parents and players meeting on August 18th at 6:00 pm. This is for both JH and HS players and parents. The Booster Club will be providing supper for the parents and players. It will be a free-will donation for supper.
