Health Guidelines for Cody-Kilgore Students
Dear Cody-Kilgore Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well and staying warm. I want to bring to your attention a recent increase in illnesses within our school community, including coughs, fevers, influenza, colds, and other seasonal sicknesses.
In collaboration with the North Central District Health Department, we have established the following guidelines for students exhibiting symptoms of illness:
Fever: If a student’s temperature exceeds 100°F while at school, they will be sent home. Students must remain fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of medication before returning to school. This applies to all students from PK-12.
Vomiting or Diarrhea:
Elementary Students (PK-5): Students experiencing these symptoms, whether at school or at home, should remain home for 48 hours due to limited handwashing practices in younger children.
Students in Grades 6-12: Students in higher grades may return after 24 hours, provided symptoms have resolved.
Persistent Coughing: If a student has a persistent cough that significantly disrupts the class, they will be sent home. They may return after 24 hours once the cough has subsided.
Our primary goal is to maintain in-person learning while prioritizing the health and well-being of our students and staff. Your cooperation and support in following these guidelines are greatly appreciated.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership.
